islamic artefacts

Discover history in the region's first Islamic Museum

Masjid Al Buraq proudly houses a one-of-a-kind museum featuring over 18 original artifacts from the Ottoman era. These priceless treasures provide a glimpse into the rich Islamic history, making this the only mosque in the UK with such an extensive collection. Among these artifacts is a 109-year-old key to the Kaaba, a symbol of deep historical and spiritual significance.

The museum aims to attract schools, community groups, and the wider public, promoting education and cultural appreciation.

funeral service

Burial with respect and dignity

To serve the community’s needs, we have built a modern Ghusl facility for the proper Islamic washing and preparation of the deceased. This essential service ensures that our loved ones are cared for with the utmost dignity and respect according to Islamic traditions.

nikah service

Get married in accordance to the Sunnah

Our marriage and Nikah services are conducted within the museum, offering couples a unique and sacred experience surrounded by centuries of Islamic heritage. We provide a serene and blessed environment for the solemnization of Nikah, ensuring that this sacred union is held in the presence of history and faith.

We are registered Blackburn Council and a registrar can attend the Nikah. We can also arrange catering.

Community Fridge

Supporting Those in Need

As part of our commitment to community welfare, we are launching the Blackburn Community Fridge—an initiative that provides essential food items to individuals and families struggling with the cost of basic necessities. No one should go hungry, and through this initiative, we aim to support those facing financial hardship.

Daily Prayers

Team Buraq

The team which brought our community together

Al-Buraq Masjid, located off Devonport Road, has been made possible through a monumental fundraising effort. Volunteers took part in sponsored cycle rides and treks across northern England, while donations from families and mosque members contributed to what has been a wholly community-led initiative.
