Our Vision
Al Buraq Masjid is committed to uniting communities through the enduring principles of Islamic unity, compassion, and knowledge. At Al Buraq Masjid, our vision is to establish a welcoming sanctuary that nurtures spiritual growth, fortifies the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood, and serves as a dynamic hub for education, cultural celebration, and social cohesion. One of the defining features of Al Buraq Masjid is its distinction as the first Masjid in the UK to house an Islamic Museum, showcasing over 25 historical artefacts, some dating back more than 200 years. Guided by Islamic values, Al Buraq Masjid strives to foster understanding, tolerance, and collaboration within our diverse community. Through steadfast dedication, inclusive programs, and impactful outreach, Al Buraq Masjid seeks to uplift individuals, families, and society as a whole, inspiring excellence in both spiritual and worldly pursuits.
Our History
Al Buraq Masjid is proud to announce the near completion of its new, purpose-built facility, a project that began in 2018 and is set to be completed in 2025. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which temporarily slowed our progress, the unwavering spirit and generosity of our community helped us raise over £1.2 million to bring this vision to life.
This new chapter builds upon the rich legacy of the original Islamic Education Centre, which faithfully served the local community for over 25 years. As time passed and the community grew, the humble space of the old masjid could no longer accommodate the increasing number of worshippers. Recognizing the need for a larger, more inclusive space, we embarked on this transformative journey to create a masjid that would meet the needs of today and the aspirations of tomorrow.
Al Buraq Masjid stands proudly alongside Team Buraq, whose unwavering dedication played a crucial role in raising funds for the new build over the years. The tireless efforts of Team Buraq through innovative fundraising campaigns and their inspiring journey remain a cornerstone of the masjid’s legacy and future endeavors.
